How to Silence the Outside Voices

1454546533710

We are all faced with challenges that make listening to our little voice sometimes a bit more difficult than we hope for. More often than not, our little voice is challenged by outside voices that make it impossible to hear our purpose, see our future and act upon our inner dreams.

Life is filled with many outside voices, voices that tell us we are not good enough, not strong enough, not bold enough, not wise enough, not daring enough, etc… a whole lot of “nots” that make believing in your little voice extremely challenging.

So, how do you silence the outside voices so that your inner voice is good enough, strong enough, bold enough, wise enough, etc…

Dream BIG on June 5th!

Two years ago I set out to write a story I hoped would inspire all those who would read it. My book, however, was just the beginning. My goal was and is to create a movement that will positively impact my community. By speaking at events and sharing my story, my goal has been to inspire children and adults alike to be proud of who they are while reminding them to chase their dreams.

Since December 2014, when I first published Little Voice, I have used this platform to give back in any possible way I can; whether it has been by donating books to schools or organizations like CHEO and the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, or by donating my time to speak to kids at the Proud to be Me Fun Day. I also created the Forget Me Not Project, a project that donates a portion of every book sale to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, a cause I hold extremely dear to my heart and have pursued in honour of my grandmother. How does it all relate? Well, my story encourages people to listen to their little voice and the Forget me Not Project reminds people of a disease that regrettably takes this little voice away from many people in our communities and country.

This upcoming June, I am hosting an event that I hope will combine both my desire to inspire and my love of volunteering to create a day where people can interact with the tremendous amount of inspiration in our city all while supporting our local chapter of the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa.

I believe in me

We are all inspired by different things every day. These things help to encourage us when we doubt ourselves, to motivate us when we’re ready to throw in the towel and to believe that anything in life is truly possible.

Sometimes, our parents or teachers serve as reminders to help us stay on the right path, to push our potential and help us to focus on our strengths and not our weaknesses.

Other times, despite whatever advice or encouragement we receive we just don’t listen, or rather we can’t. We dwell too much on the negative that the positive attributes that make us unique and the dreams that help shape our future are lost silently in the wind.

It is in those moments where we don’t need reminding from others but rather an awakening in ourselves that we need to listen to our little voice the most.

Little Voice is more than just a children’s book, it a message that empowers us all to feel inspired, strong, hopeful, confident and, more than anything, determined to not only be proud of who we are but inspired to help others feel the same.

I believe in me, do you?
