With our countdown now underway to the Dream Big Dream, Girl Inspirational Luncheon, we are thrilled to announce the newest member of our team:
Tammy Laverty
“I am very excited to add another inspiring woman from our community to the Dream Big Dream, Girl roster. It goes without saying that there are so many women within Ottawa, and around the world, who do amazing things each and every day! I am thankful that this event will be able to bring together some of these women in order to inspire the next generation!” – Amanda Bernardo
Tammy will not only be introducing our opening guest speaker Peggy Taillon, but will also be sharing with us her own personal journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Tammy is a native of Ottawa, Canada, where she grew up in football, dance and performing arts. She is a former Miss Ottawa Rough Rider & Rough Rider Cheerleader. She moved to Los Angeles where she lived for 11 years and established a highlighted resume of acting, singing and dance in Merv Griffin Productions, music videos, stage performances and notably became a popular National Anthem singer for many national league teams in including the Los Angeles Kings, LA Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Phoenix coyotes & Ottawa Senators to name a few.
In 2009, she returned to her hometown of Ottawa to launch a successful real estate career with Royal Lepage. Along with real estate she became the founder & driving force behind the early success of Laverty Designs Inc., which produces dresses for the NHL, MLB, CFL and NFL. In one year, Ms. Laverty took the ‘Sports Jersey Dress’ from concept to full production and retail sales success. Her drive has led to successful recurring sales with: Real Sports Apparel and the Toronto Maple Leafs Fan Stores – including the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadians, Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins.
Tammy also has an extensive network in the local community; her father, Ed Laverty, is an Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame inductee who pioneered the Ottawa Nepean Touch Football League to it’s 50th anniversary. He established the rulebook for touch football and built a league that boasts thousands of athletes and players in Ottawa and across Ontario, an organization she is closely involved with alongside her family. She is also involved in many charitable events & causes including Fight for the Cure, the Max Keeping Foundation, and Schoolbox & Ringside for Youth.
Tammy’s family has also been personally touched by Alzheimer’s disease and will be sharing her experiences and stories with us this upcoming June!
Thank you Tammy for joining our team, we look forward to hearing your story on June 5th!
“There is a moment in your life when you know you are destined for something greater. There is a force pulling you to create, explore, build and lead. There is no map to guide you, no blueprint to help you navigate, just a tiny voice inside you telling you to dream BIG!”
– Erin Bagwell, Director
